Noninvasive evaluation of cardiac output based on various biosignals

چکیده

A convenient and reliable enough method of cardiac output monitoring is still of interest. The following article presents a comparison of selected methods of noninvasive evaluation of this parameter. It considers the analysis of signals measured from the thorax (blood impedance change) and from distal locations like signals from a photopletysmographic sensor or blood pressure from a limb. All of the analyses contained in this article were performed on the same set of biosignals. The paper shows the advantages and constraints of the methods used. The relation between the cardiac output and signals coming from distal parts of the body has been particularly closely investigated.

Evaluation of the Effect of Atenolol Induced Depression in Cardiac Output on Its Own Excretion through Urine Analysis

The role of Pharmacist in making the therapeutic decisions for safe and effective therapy is increasing all over the world. However, there are many aspects of drugs in making these decisions that are less commonly studied such as the correlation of cardiac output with pharmacokinetics of drugs. The cardiac output, besides the other factors, is also affected by drugs like atenolol. Therefore, th...

Noninvasive Cardiac Output Estimation Based on Oxygen Consumption During Stress Test

Cardiac output (CO) is one of the most important hemodynamic signals to measure in patients with compromised cardiovascular performance. A variety of cardiac output estimators have been developed over the past hundred years. The estimator evaluated in this paper is based on oxygen uptake measured during exercise to estimate cardiac output and use heart rate (HR) to obtain also stroke volume (SV...

Evaluation of Cardiac Mitochondrial Function by a Nuclear Imaging Technique using Technetium-99m-MIBI Uptake Kinetics

Mitochondria play an important role in energy production for the cell. The proper function of a myocardial cell largely depends on the functional capacity of the mitochondria.  Therefore it is necessary to establish a novel and reliable method for a non-invasive assessment of mitochondrial function and metabolism in humans. Although originally designed for evaluating myocardial perfusion, 99mTc...

Cardiac output and cardiopulmonary responses to exercise in heart failure: application of a new bio-reactance device.

BACKGROUND Cardiopulmonary exercise testing (CPX) is widely used to evaluate heart failure (HF) patients, but lacks information about ventricular performance. There is a need for a noninvasive cardiac output (CO) measurement. METHODS AND RESULTS Twenty-three HF patients and 13 normals underwent CPX and CO measurements with a new, noninvasive, bioreactance technology based on assessment of rel...
